Apple's Public Source Modification mailing list received some good news today, an early port of OpenPlay
to Linux! This network abstraction library is currently on MacOS 8, OS X Server, Win 95/98. It
supports AppleTalk, OpenTransport, and WinSock, but is designed to be modular with a plug-in architecture.
While the current verion for Linux isn't complete, CentrePoint Software is working on making it stabler
and adding more documentation and samples for introducing new users. They currently have this
to-do list:
-What needs to be done_
- Finish socket code for Linux.
- Design/develop GUI portions for Linux.
- Work on introductory materials.
- Create better samples.
- Create on-line reference manual.
- Incorporate bug fixes from mailing list.
- Setup CVS server for source.
I encourage everyone to visit their website.
