Download Rules: Sources to Avoid

Downloading is the simplest of notions: programs can be discovered; convenience can be earned with ease. Such convenience can prove to be damning, however, if a file is corrupted.

It’s all too common for users to suffer from incompatible (and infected) software — simply because they didn’t adhere to the basic rules: 

File Sharing 

A cluster of files, a wealth of data: you’ve stumbled upon an online community. There are endless codes to consider, with downloads promised to be worthwhile. Too often, however, do these promises fail. File sharing directories (which allow users to upload programs) can be damaging to systems — with individuals uncertain of what’s contained within the downloads. Viruses are common, as well as licensed content that is illegal to use. 

Email Attachments 

An attachment waits before you, begging to be opened. It swears to contain software from a manufacturer, touts itself as necessary; and you want desperately to believe it. You must refuse, however. Distributors rarely send programs through email. They instead upload them to their web sites or will sell them directly. Choosing to download through an attachment is therefore unwise (and results in over 60 percent of all malware complications). This is the favorite choice of hackers. 

Unknown Sources 

A program is offered on a forum post — its creator is unknown but its applications are deemed vital. You wish to claim the item for your computer, certain it will increase functionality. It may instead, however, only increase security failures. Never select software from unrecognized sources. You must instead research users thoroughly, seeking customer testimonials and potential warnings.

Manage All your Contacts in a Single Address Book

In today’s era of emails and social networking sites, our contacts are often scattered. For example you have some friends in Facebook, who are not added to Gmail or vice-versa or you have migrated from Yahoo to Hotmail and some of your contacts are still in the old address book of Yahoo. Also, in places like Facebook and Linkedin you can get personal details of your contact along with their pictures, phone numbers, etc. Fetching so much of information into one main address book is a tricky task.

Thankfully, there are applications that can help you get all the contacts at one place, such as Google Contacts, which is a single-cloud based service. With Google Contacts, you can easily import all your contacts from Hotmail, Yahoo mail or any other email to your Gmail address book. You can also import contacts from Facebook, Orkut, Linkedin, or any networking sites. To do this you need to download your address book from all these IDs as CSV files and then import them to Google Contact one by one

While importing contacts from various sources it is obvious that some of the contacts will be entered multiple times. This application is designed to take care of this issue as well. Choose “Find Duplicates” that is present under the tab “My Contacts” and the tool will list all the possible duplicated contact names. You can delete the repeated names and merge the remaining to complete your import. Now once the contacts are imported, you can use Google Contacts Sync to import the respective profile pictures of contacts and their birthdays to your Gmail contact list. With Google Contacts, managing contacts was never so easy!

Software Helping Children Learn

Everyone is different and part of that is learning differently. Software is being used to help children learn. Often the software involves games or other fun activities. These are things children do anyway.

Technology is involved in everyone’s life. Little children are experience technology daily and many young children are using game systems as entertainment. They use game systems as well as using computers. It might be difficult to have any age student to do their homework while telling them to play a game will bring them running to the computer or game system. They look forward to playing a game and are excited to keep at it until they get tired or reach a goal. When it comes to homework they get bored and the time it takes them to do just a small assignment drags on because they are not motivated.

There are many different educational software programs available to appeal to all children. Software choices include cartoon characters, favorite movies and TV shows and many other popular elements. Software helps children learn through:

  2. Memory increases
  3. Immediate feedback
  4. Stimulating programs

Software games and activities for children give them encouragement and even boost their confidence. They will also learn because even if they get a question wrong, for example, they will be given the correct answer. They can learn by this and don’t have to wonder about the correct answer. They could be surprised if the question or element is asked again they might find themselves knowing the answer now. Basically, this feedback will help the child not only be motivated but they will notice their memory has increased.

A variety of fun learning software choices for children are used in schools as well as in homes. Just playing a few games a day that could take as little as 15 minutes will help children learn to study and increase their knowledge during an enjoyable experience.
